Picture tag

I decided that I wanted to play tag. Picture tag that is. I thought this site was quite cool. I've been popping into it every couple of days to see if anyone else is playing too. So far it only looks like its been me and Lizziedaisy have been the only ones using pictures we've taken with our cameras. Hopefully we'll see others getting in the spirit and post some of their snapshots on the next 'tag subject'.

Check out the site here.

Good influence?

I think so. One of my friend's, John, exposed to the 'cult' show of Doctor Who. When he first described the show I didn't think I would like. But then he had me watch an episode, and I enjoy it quite a bit. I just wish that the states would pick up the show. Our northern neighbors (Canada), get it, so I don't see why one of the cable channels (like BBC America) doesn't carry it. But such is life. So I only really get to watch it on our 'Doctor Who days'. When I come over and hang out… then watch the weekly episode of Doctor Who.

TV Series on DVD

I think this probably one of the best things that has happend to a TV series.

I just started watching Stargate SG-1, and I'm starting to wonder…. What have I been missing?

This is a wonderfully entertaining sci-fi series. I did like the original movie, but I just never got around to watching it. I also never quite knew what time and day it was on. I'm glad that I rented the DVD series, otherwise I wouldn't know what a great show it is. I've started on season 1… and eventually I'll make it to the current season (I don't remember if its final season as well). I did start watching Stargate Atlantis, which I enjoyed somewhat. But I like SG-1 better.

There are a few other episodic TV that I have on DVD. I tend to buy the ones that I think I will watch over and over again. Some of other favorite shows have been CSI, West Wing and the X-Files.

Alternative to KVMs

Prior to reading this little commentary on John's Thoughts blog, I didn't know there was an alternative to a hardware KVM (keyboard, video, mouse). I ts called Synergy, and it emulates a hardware KVM switch.

Synergy is a software that I recently found which allows me to use two computers with one keyboard and mouse. A sort of KM switch without the wires. It works over your home network passing the mouse and keyboard info to the other computer via network. When I move the mouse off one screen it switches to the other computer.

Until I read this blog I never knew such a piece of software existed. I had to go and buy my hardware KVM switch, which I love btw. Is has come in handy a bunch of times. Especially when I'm refreshing computers for friends and family. With a KVM switch (hardware or software), I don't need to do a complete separate setup when I'm working on someone else's computer. I just plug it into the switch, and viola! Its easy for me to go from one system to another.

Its been a while…

It been over a week since my last posting, and that was mostly due to a busy schedule. Here's my thoughts on the AI finale, I was a little sad that Bo didn't win but I know he still has a promising career ahead of him. I was also happy to see Carrie win, as she was one of my top 3 favorites. Actually, when it was Bo, Carrie and Vonzell in the top 3 I kept thinking, any of them could win. All 3 are good singers. So overall, I'm still happy with the results.

If there wasn't Tivo, I'm not sure what I would when I miss my favorite shows. I've Tivo-ing Alias since it first aired. And because of what else was on at the same time, and all the other reality shows I was watching, I got quite behind with Alias. Well, last weekend I finally got to catchup on most of the episodes I missed. Man! I sometimes forget how much I like that show. It always keeps me on edge, w/o a cliffhanger every week like 24, which I can't stand! Now I just have the final 2 episodes to watch…. I can't wait to watch them this weekend. Now I wonder how the show is going to develop with Jennifer Garner's pregnancy.

There's a few shows that are premiering this summer that I want to check out, like: Hit Me Baby One More Time, Hell's Kitchen and The Cut. I wonder how these shows will turn out. Hopefully entertaining.

big man in the house

Ebony is my 'little-15lb' baby. You'd think he'd be a tough kitty.. but he's the biggest baby in the house. But he's an affectionate one that demands attention every now and then.

Summer tv

With all the season finales just about over, there seems to nothing else to watch. Not like I really should be watching any more TV than I already do. But I find it entertaining and relaxing. Occasionally some of the networks start airing some new TV series, but 1/2 the time they aren't very good. About the only thing thats good about the summer, its easier to find time to watch movies that I get from Netflix. There's also a few TV series that I never got to watch that I want to see what the big hoopla was all about.

Grand Cayon trip in 2004

On a previous trip to Las Vegas, we decided to take book a day trip to the Grand Canyon. I was quite surprised how much fun I had on the guided tour. Along the way we had also stopped at Hoover Dam. We visited the west rim of the Grand Canyon and once we arrived I was awe at how big it really was. I think one of the best parts of this trip was being able to walk to the edge of the rim of the canyon and peering down the canyon. Although the times I did do this, I would experience a bit of vertigo

A mild addiction

I must confess, I'm addicted to American Idol. This is the fourth season, and its one of my favorites. I'm entertained week after week with the different contestants performing. I get this thrill of thinking in some respect I control their destiny. Even though one may think, that my call won't count. But it does!

Compared to previous seasons, I was glad to see this year that my favorite contestant, Bo Bice, was not elimnated early by someone with lesser abilities to sing. I was happy to find out that he is the final two. But I've been predicting for weeks, that he would be in the final two with either Carrier or Vonzell. I'm still predicting that Bo will win it all. I thought his acapella performace of "In a Dream" was one of the best (if not the best) performance of all four seasons of Idol.

I don't know if I helped influence my family, or if they just started watching on their own. But I remember watching parts of season 2 with them during a time when the family was gathering to support each other. Either way now we're all addicted and gather together weekly to watch the performances on Tuesday nights. Remarkably, we've all agreed who we think are good, bad, and please get them off the show now .

The old phart…

This is Scottie. She can be grouchy out times, but she still has her loving moments. Some of her testiness is due to the fact that she has lost almost all of her sight. She still gets around fine around the house even though she's 15 years old.

My First Blog

This is the first time that I've posted a blog. Its a big step for me. Normally, I'm quite private about certain things in my life. I've tried to protect my identity over the years and have so far been able to avoid being googled. That may change a bit in the future. Perhaps, it wouldn't be a bad thing if my blog came up on a google search.

I never know what to talk about or write about. So I'll start off with a few random thoughts of the day.

Star Wars Episode 3 is opening next week. I'm quite excited about it coming to theaters. I've enjoyed all the previous movies, including the original trilogy. I've heard reviews where Episode 1 and Episode 2 weren't that great. I disagree. When I saw Episode 1, I braved the crowds and watched the 12:01am opening of the movie. And I loved it. I found it entertaining, and liked finding out how it first began. However, I could of done without Jar Jar Binks. Episode 2, I also watched the 12:01am opening and again I enjoyed the move. Now, with Episode 3 approaching (and a few years older), I've begun to realize that no movie is worth staying up to all hours of the morning just so you can say 'I saw the first showing'. I always end up leaving the theater very tired, and fighting the crowds to get out of the parking lot. I much rather be sleeping.. especially since I have to work the next morning.

I hate traffic…… its gotten so conjested that sometimes I just want to scream. I get so bored in my car at times, I subject many of friends to my afternoon rush hour phone call. Usually somewhere in the conversation I say.. "hey, check out sigalert.com ….. why is the traffic so yucky on the 57 freeway"
